As we now know, energy bills in 2022 are going to increase – in fact we’re going to see a lot of prices as we covered in (ADD WHEN LIVE) . With prices increasing across all suppliers, there’s little we can do about it other than reduce the amount of energy we use.
This doesn’t have to be about cutting back on heating when we most need it, but instead looking at all the little ways we can cut costs, that we may not have realised costed so much.
Firstly, it’s important to know what uses the most energy in your home:
- TVs
- Fridge Freezers
- Washing machines & tumble dryers
- Dishwashers (however this is dependent on how much hot water you use when washing up)
The Energy Savings Trust recently wrote an article about this, which includes a chart of how much you could save by making small changes.
Ways to Save Money on Energy Costs:
Turn off electrical items at the plug
Only charge devices when you need to
Use a thermos flask
Pack the washing machine
Use less hot water
In addition to the above there are also the more obvious ways to cut down on costs, such as making sure lights are switched off if rooms aren’t being used.
There is also the option for using renewable energy within the home – this isn’t a quick fix but could be a consideration for the future, especially if there’s a chance that these increases are here to stay _____
