Jacket Potato with Baked Beans and Cheese

The classic British budget meal for good reason - it's filling, nutritious and costs less than a pound. A proper jacket potato with crispy skin and fluffy centre is hard to beat.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large baking potatoes
  • 1 tin (400g) baked beans
  • 50g cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • salt and pepper

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 200C/180C fan/Gas 6. Prick the potatoes several times with a fork.
  2. Rub each potato with a little oil and sprinkle with salt. Place directly on the oven rack.
  3. Bake for 50-60 minutes until the skin is crispy and the centre is fluffy when you squeeze it.
  4. Heat the baked beans in a small saucepan.
  5. Split each potato open, add a knob of butter, then top with beans and grated cheese.
